Join us for an unforgettable autumn experience as the Growing Minds Foundation ushers in the spirit of inclusiveness in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Our annual Fall Festival is more than just a seasonal celebration—it’s a gathering that cultivates joy and community spirit. October 5th, we invite you to savor the crisp fall weather at Overlook Park and immerse yourself in a day filled with camaraderie and discovery.

At our 2023 festival, sponsored generously by local businesses, one highlight was the free Pop, Ride, & Roll, a bubble filled bike ride through the park, a testament to our commitment to inclusivity. Children of all abilities rode their bikes, scooters, roller skates, strollers, and wheelchairs, through the park while volunteers blew bubbles along the trail, ensuring a sensory-friendly experience for everyone. Families browsed vendor booths, enjoyed games, and savored treats from lemonade stands and food trucks. Live music echoed through the park, punctuated by laughter and the excitement of community engagement.

Discover the heartwarming scenes of children interacting at the petting zoo, exploring touch-a-truck displays, participating in pumpkin games, and getting their faces painted. The Maynard Saddle Club even offered horse rides, adding to the festival’s enchantment. Stroll along the walking trail and admire the tranquil Black River flowing nearby, or witness the bustling energy of downtown Pocahontas.

As a pediatric therapist and proud parent, I’m thrilled to witness my own children embracing diversity and making meaningful connections. The festival creates opportunities for families with disabled children to feel welcomed and valued in our community. It warms my heart to hear my son talk enthusiastically about the unique features of another child’s wheelchair—it’s moments like these that foster empathy and understanding.

Last year’s festival was made possible by the unwavering support of the Pocahontas community, enabling us to raise funds for multiple medical scholarships in 2024.

Mark your calendars for our next annual festival at Overlook Park on Saturday, October 5th. This year, we’re thrilled to introduce a jumping good time, with a day full of FREE fun in the bouncy houses sponsored by Jollynn’s Jumpers, and sensory bins throughout the park. Indulge in delicious fare from food trucks offering pretzels, coffee, pizza, BBQ, and Mexican delights, and unwind on the lawn while enjoying live music and the fresh autumn breeze.

Participating in these events is not just about enjoying a day out—it’s about raising awareness and fostering a supportive community for our children and families with disabilities. We invite you to carve out time in your fall schedule to join us at the park and connect with amazing families. We can’t wait to meet you!

See you at the park!
